Interior Design I

A unique course that will give a general idea about “Interior Design” that could lead to future career possibilities. Students will  be trained to see, feel, and understand the spaces around them.This course will change preconceived ideas about “Interior Design”. Students will learn how to differentiate between decorating a space to look good, and designing a space to become functional and aesthetic. They will also learn how a plain living space can be transformed into a beautiful and functional space.Since interior design requires training as well as talent; this course will teach the know-how needed in order to design a space from floor to ceiling. Students will learn about color theory, industry trends, spatial arrangements, floor plans, traditional and modern interior design ideas.Furthermore, this course will cover some of the latest trends affecting the industry today. In addition, students will explore a range of careers in interior design and get insider tips for entering into this exciting field.

Addressed To: Creative thinkers with passion for design, students that want to know more about interior design, professionals eager to try something new, or someone designing their own space (home, office, shop, etc…).This course is ideal for anyone who wishes to gain a general understanding of interior design as it offers the chance to experience a variety of topics through real life situations.

Objective: To learn the basics of interior design such as: Design principles & elements, Space planning basics, Lighting, Colour, Surface treatments.

Methods: Lectures, Design studio working sessions.

Requirements: Pencils, pens, colors, eraser, butter paper, ruler and masking tape.

Interior Design II

This course is ideal for people with basic interior design knowledge and want to further explore design for spaces, material selection and some technical aspects.

Methods: Lectures, Design studio working sessions.

Requirements: Pencils, pens, colors, eraser, butter paper, ruler and masking tape.

Interior Decoration

Students will learn how to transform residential interiors into aesthetically pleasing, personalized spaces. Focus is on creating complementary color schemes, arranging furniture, selecting flooring, fabrics, finishes, and placing accessories.Students will also apply general design theory fundamentals, such as design elements and principles, colour and composition theories as well as human factors and functional considerations that come into account when designing living spaces, like circulation and flow .Students will be working on an actual case study in a furniture store to design layouts, choose furniture and use decorative elements to create a space taking into consideration aesthetics and function.

About Instructor

After acquiring a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Architecture from the American University of Beirut, Lara enriched her experience with many different residential, boutique and commercial interior projects. Her work reflects her true passion and desire for interior design.
